Access bridge build progress

Exciting pictures arriving from Jack Lindsay who's busy building the 14m access bridge recently designed at #OrthotropicEngineering. Fast progress and looking like great workmanship!

The first picture shows the structural layout of the bridge to good effect: Longitudinal steel box members provide the bending strength, stabilised by regularly spaced vertical box members and transverse I-section beams.

The second picture (below) captures the diagonal lacing added to each side truss cell. Comprising laser-cut plates and round bar, this efficiently lends great shear strength and stiffness to the primary (spanwise) structure, whilst establishing an attractive 'industrial heritage' theme.

The steelwork will be fully gritblasted prior to the application of a smart red epoxy paint finish.
